A laptop is an expensive and a precious investment for your present and future.
Hence, it’s important that you know what to look for in a laptop while buying one and not repeat the mistake you made the last time you purchased one…
1. Looking For The Cheapest model available
We all like to look for great deals, no matter what the specifications. That’s the biggest mistake one can make. Spending a little extra on a good laptop offering the best specifications and backing it up with an extended warranty plan can make a big difference and go a long way when it comes to performance. There are brands offering a variety of specifications, so make sure you do some research before you decide on one. For a budget within 30K, look for one with a 7th-generation Intel Core i3 CPU. If you want to go the AMD (advanced micro devices) way, look for a laptop with a dual-core AMD A9 APU.
2. Choosing a Laptop With Insufficient RAM
If you’re planning to run Windows on your laptop, do not settle for 2GB of RAM at any cost. It will choke your OS and you’ll see a lot of lag. We recommend you get a laptop with at least 4GB or 8GB of RAM. Even if you don’t get a laptop with the RAM capacity you want, ensure it has upgradeable RAM, so you can always upgrade to faster speeds when your budget allows you to.
3. Compromising On The CPU
With each passing generation, processors have only been getting better and better with new innovation, so do not buy a laptop with a CPU that is over two generations old. For instance, with the 7th-gen Core series processors, Intel introduced Optane, a means to improve speed on laptops with both SSD (solid-state drive) and HDD (hard disk drive). So as a thumb rule, never buy a laptop with a CPU that’s too old.
4. Only Giving Importance To Speakers
You may be a music lover but that does not mean you only pay attention to speakers while buying a laptop. Avoid paying too much attention to speakers even if they come tagged with popular brand names like Dolby, etc. The fact is, laptop speakers can never be as good as external speakers that are meant for good audio output. So don’t let those big names influence your buying decision. You can save some money and buy good speakers a little later.
