Earlier this year, Acer had teased its peculiar glasses-free stereoscopic laptop developed in collaboration with SpatialLabs. The Taiwanese company then ran a pilot experiment with select 3D modelling professionals to fine-tune its product for months. Finally, it is now available for consumers under the ConceptD 7 SpatialLabs Edition tag. The laptop offers a 3D experience out of the box. To achieve stereoscopic vision sans glasses, the Taiwanese company has claimed to have developed a custom eye-tracking technology that projects the right images to each eye to create a 3D effect. This enables 3D modelers, animators, and CAD designers can view their projects in three dimensions.

Core i7 processor. The graphics processing duties are handled by Nvidia GPU options capped at the GeForce RTX 3080. The system can be configured with up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM and up to 2TB of SSD storage.
To sustain performance for hours, Acer has equipped the laptop with its ‘4th Gen AeroBlade’ fans for heat dissipation. According to the company, each fan has 59 blades for superior efficiency.
Apart from delivering the stereoscopic vision, the laptop’s 15.6-inch display offers pixel-packed 4K resolution. The panel covers 100% of Adobe RGB colour gamut and has a DeltaE value of less than 2 for enhanced colour accuracy. For those not in the know, the difference of DeltaE<2 is barely perceivable to most people.
The top bezels accommodate a stereo camera that tracks the user’s eyes to send two slightly different images to each eye. When projected through the optical lens embedded in the screen, these images create a stereoscopic effect. Acer has baked in a real-time rendering engine that reacts to the user’s head movement immediately.
On the connectivity front, the Acer ConceptD 7 SpatialLabs Edition offers Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0. For maximum compatibility, the company offers two Thunderbolt 4 ports (with a USB Type-C connector), an HDMI 2.1 port, and three USB Type-A ports. Acer is yet to shed light on the battery specifications.
