Acer Announces Laptops, Tablet, and Monitor With Antimicrobial Coating

Along with the intriguing Acer ConceptD 7 SpatialLabs Edition laptop, Acer also introduced several products with an antimicrobial coating. The new line-up includes the TravelMate Spin P4 and Acer Enduro Urban N3 laptops, the Acer Enduro Urban T3 tablet, and the Acer VE246Q monitor. These products are ideal for germophobes who panic over microbes residing over their gadgets. In its war against germs, Acer’s strategy is to minimise the growth of bacteria on the surfaces we touch the most. To achieve this goal, the Taiwanese brand has integrated silver-ion agents onto components such as display, keyboard, touchpad, and fingerprint scanner. Silver is known for its antimicrobial properties and is used extensively in the healthcare industry.

Acer TravelMate Spin P4 (TMP414RNA-51) Laptop

Acer’s TravelMate Spin P4 is a convertible laptop with a 360-degree hinge movement. It features a touchscreen display with stylus support. The 14-inch IPS LCD screen has Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) and is protected by Gorilla Glass.

The TravelMate Spin P4 can be configured with up to the 11th Generation Intel Core i7 vPro processor. It is fused with Nvidia’s MX350 GPU. The machine can accommodate up to 32GB DDR4 RAM and up to 1TB SSD storage.

The laptop covers connectivity essentials such as an RJ45 Ethernet connector, an SD card reader, a USB Type-C port, Thunderbolt 4 ports, and optional eSIM LTE support. The notebook comes with Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0 and a fingerprint scanner.

As per Acer, the laptop lasts for 13.5 hours on a single charge. It supports fast-charging tech that can top up 80% of the battery in about an hour. In addition to silver-ion treatment on its surfaces, the laptop also adheres to MIL-STD 810H impact resistance standards. The machine weighs in at 1.53kg and is 1.8cm thin.

Acer Enduro Urban N3 (EUN314A-51WG) Laptop

The Acer Enduro Urban N3 laptop features a 14-inch IPS LCD with Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels). Compared to other new laptops, this one has quite thick bezels. The panel has up to 450 nits of brightness, which helps the display retain outdoor readability.

The laptop has other features that prepare it for the outdoors. For starters, the device is rated IP53 for dust and water resistance. Acer claims the notebook passes MIL-STD 810H criteria for durability. Owing to its “reinforced” corners, the notebook can survive drops from up to 4-feet. The company has also added antimicrobial coating to the body, screen, touchpad, and keyboard.

The notebook is powered by an 11th Generation Intel Core i7 processor. You get an option of Nvidia GeForce MX330 GPU for graphics-intensive tasks. The machine can be configured with 32GB RAM and a 1TB SSD.

Acer Enduro Urban T3 (EUT310A-11A) Tablet

The Acer Enduro Urban T3 tablet features a 10-inch IPS LCD with Full HD resolution (1,920 x 1,200 pixels). For outdoor use, the display offers up to 600 nits brightness. The tablet features a 5MP front-facing camera for video calls. Going by the company website, the Enduro Urban T3 tablet is powered by a MediaTek processor and has 4 GB of RAM.

The tablet passes the MIL-STD-810H certification and can survive drops from 4-feet without any issue. The Enduro Urban T3 is rated IP53, which means it can withstand dust and water splashes. For those worried about germs, the slate is coated with silver-ions on its screen, frame, bumpers, and buttons.

Acer VE246Q Monitor

The Acer VE246Q monitor features a 23.6-inch LCD screen with Full HD resolution. The Taiwanese brand has opted for a VA panel, known for its balance between viewing angles and refresh rate. To protect users from eye strain, the monitor comes with Acer’s BlueLightShield technology that promises to cut down on harmful blue light.

The company’s antimicrobial treatment also extends to this monitor. The product’s housing as well as front glass feature silver-ion coating. This seems a bit excessive considering that unlike handheld gadgets users barely touch the monitor except for maybe the onboard power button.

Acer TravelMate Spin P4, Enduro Urban N3, Enduro Urban T3, Acer VE246Q Price and Availability

The Acer TravelMate Spin P4 laptop will show up in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) by the end of 2021 for €1,119. Consumers in the US will have to wait till January 2022 to get their hands on the laptop for $1,099.

The Enduro Urban N3 will hit the stores in the US and EMEA later this year for $849. The Enduro Urban T3 tablet comes at a starting price of $299. It will be available in the US and EMEA in the first quarter of 2022. The launch details regarding the Acer VE246Q monitor are yet to be revealed.
