Amazon India Partners With Magenta Mobility For EV Deployment In Hyderabad

Magenta Mobility, an electric charger manufacturing and mobility start-up, announced its partnership with Amazon India to establish a fleet of electric vehicles in Hyderabad. As part of this joint venture, the company will deploy electric two and four-wheelers for Amazon India’s delivery partners.

Back in 2020, Amazon India announced that it plans to add 10,000 EVs to its delivery fleet by 2025. This would be in line with The Climate Pledge which targets net-zero carbon by 2040. The company earlier teamed up with Mahindra Electric and Sun Mobility to convert its fleet to all-electric vehicles.

Abhinav Singh, Director of Customer Fulfilment, Supply Chain and Global Specialty Fulfilment at Amazon India, spoke of the partnership, “At Amazon India, we are determined to build a supply chain that will minimize the environmental impact of our operations and add to our goal of inducting 10,000 EVs to our fleet by 2025.” Singh stated that its collaboration with Magenta Mobility will aid the two companies in being more environmentally-friendly. Moreover, this joint venture marks an important step in establishing a sustainable ecosystem for transportation using electric vehicles.

Maxson Lewis, Founder and Managing Director of Magenta Mobility, said, “The collaboration between Amazon and Magenta is a welcome step, which reaffirms Amazon India’s significant progress in the electric mobility industry.” Lewis added, “This launch in Hyderabad is a continuation of our collaboration with Amazon that started in Bengaluru and will help transform a significant number of Amazon’s last-mile delivery fleet to EVs and encourage the e-commerce industry to decarbonize last-mile logistics; actively.”
