New firmware updates are being rolled out to the Apple AirPods (2nd Gen.), Apple AirPods Pro, Apple AirPods Max, Beats Solo Pro, Beats Powerbeats 4, and Beats Powerbeats Pro. These new firmware updates bring the Find My feature for both the AirPods Pro and AirPods Max. Apple had first teased the Find My feature during the WWDC 2021 event in June. With the new software update, the compatible AirPods models get the new functionality in the Find My app. The app now showcases precise location, a new Nearby Finding UI, and Lost Mode. It also delivers notifications when your earbuds have been left behind.

This new feature was first spotted by 9to5Mac‘s reader Ste Moseley who posted screenshots on Twitter. The Apple AirPods Pro make use of Apple’s Find My network which is used to track AirTags. Even if you forget AirPods anywhere, you will be able to see their last seen location on the map with the help of the Find My app.
Users can also get a visual indicator of their proximate location if the AirPods are in close range to the connected iPhone. In the Lost Mode, customers can leave a message and their contact number, so that those who find the AirPods can contact their owner and return them. 9to5Mac notes that this new feature is available only with AirPods Pro and AirPods Max. The regular AirPods do not support these features. It is said that the third-generation AirPods, which are expected to release later this year, will however support this new feature.
