Apple iOS 15.4 Update Released To iPhones: New Features List, Compatible Devices

Apple has finally released the much-awaited iOS 15.4 software update to compatible iPhones. The newly released update brings multiple new features such as support for Face ID with mask, newer emojis, Universal Control, a new voice for Siri, and other minor enhancements.

Users who have a compatible iPhone can head over to Settings > General > Software Update to download the newly released iOS 15.4 update.

1. Face ID Support While Wearing Mask

The iOS 15.4 update brings support for using Face ID while wearing a mask. This new feature can be used on an iPhone 12 and newer models. Once you install the iOS 15.4 software update, a new screen will populate will guide you to set up the process for using Face ID with a mask. Apple mentions that Face ID is most accurate when it is set up for full recognition.

2. New Emojis

The iOS 15.4 update also includes new 37 emoji characters. These new emojis are part of the Emoji 14.0 collection. Some of the new emojis included in the latest update includes melting face, troll, biting lip, pregnant man, heart hands, tears of joy, and much more.

3. Universal Control

Apart from the new emojis and Face ID support while wearing the mask, Apple also has added the Universal Control feature in the iOS 15.4 update. The Universal Control feature allows users to control multiple iPads and Macs using a single mouse, keyboard, and trackpad. This feature was first announced by Apple at WWDC 2021.

4. Apple Card Widget

In iOS 15.4, Apple also has added the Apple Card widget which displays users’ Apple Card spending. The new software update also allows users to disable the notifications which used to pop up when the automation in the Shortcuts app is running. With the new software update, the user can switch off the notification with the new toggle.

Apart from all the features mentioned above, the iOS 15.4 update also includes a variety of new features such as new voice for Siri, Tap To Pay on iPhone, the ability to add notes to keychain passwords, new Custom Email Domain UI in iCloud settings, and a new AirPods pop-up.
