The Apple iPhone 14 series was announced on September 7, 2022, during Apple’s ‘Far Out’ event. During the event, took the wraps off the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. During the same event, the company also unveiled the Apple AirPods Pro 2, Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch SE 2nd Generation, and the Apple Watch Ultra. The stars of the show, however, were the iPhone 14 Models, featuring improved cameras, faster performance, satellite connectivity for Emergency SOS, and longer battery life.
Let’s take a look at the full specifications, prices, and features of the newly launched iPhone 14 series of smartphones and find out what the devices have in store for us.
Apple iPhone 14 Specifications, Features
As mentioned earlier, the iPhone 14 lineup includes the following smartphones:
- Apple iPhone 14
- Apple iPhone 14 Plus
- Apple iPhone 14 Pro
- Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max
Apple iPhone 14 Display
Starting with the base variant of the iPhone 14, the device has a 6.1-inch OLED display with Full HD+ resolution (2,532×1,170 pixels), HDR10, Dolby Vision, a 60Hz refresh rate, 460ppi pixel density, and 1,200 nits peak brightness. The iPhone 14 Plus shares a resemblance with the iPhone 14 when it comes to the display characteristics but has a much larger screen area as it comes with a 6.7-inch display.
The same is the case with the iPhone 14 Pro models, as the iPhone 14 Pro has a 6.1-inch display and the iPhone 14 Pro Max features a 6.7-inch display. Both the Pro models feature Apple’s new take on the much-dreaded display notch. The new Pro models have a pill-shaped notch which Apple is calling Dynamic Island. The pill-shaped black region on top of the iPhone 14 Pro models shows notifications alerts and various pop-ups to try to blend the front camera and sensors as much as possible. As for the technical specifications, both the Pro models use OLED displays with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of a whopping 2,000 nits.
Apple iPhone 14 Series Colours, Design
The iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Plus are available in Midnight, Purple, Starlight, Blue, and Product Red colour options and have a Ceramic Shield front, Glass back, and aluminium design. The Pro models, on the other hand, come in Space Black, Silver, Gold, and Deep Purple colour schemes. The Pro models also come with a Ceramic Shield at the front but have a textured matte glass back and a stainless steel design.
It is worth noting that only the Pro models in the iPhone 14 series come with the new Dynamic Island, and the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Plus have to make do with the age-old wide notch.
Apple iPhone 14 Processor, RAM, Storage
While the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Plus still make use of Apple’s last-gen A15 Bionic chipset, the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max come powered by the brand’s new A16 Bionic chipset, which features a 6-core CPU, comprising of 2 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores, a 5-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine. The new chipset is based on TSMC’s 4nm fabrication process.
All four devices in the iPhone 14 lineup come with 6GB of LPDDR5 RAM. Speaking of the storage options, the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Plus come in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage options. The iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max are available in four storage options: 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and a whopping 1TB.
Apple iPhone 14 Cameras
The iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Plus feature a dual-camera setup on the rear, which includes a 12MP primary camera with a larger sensor, a faster aperture, and bigger pixels, and a 12MP ultrawide camera. On the front, the devices have a selfie camera with autofocus. Apple claims that the iPhone 14 camera brings a 49% improvement in low-light photography. Plus, the brand has introduced an all-new Action Mode, which is claimed to offer even better stabilization while shooting videos (2.8K 60fps).
Moving on to the Pro models, the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max have a triple-camera setup on the rear, which includes a 48MP main camera (Apple’s first, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 12MP 3x telephoto camera. The telephoto camera on the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max offer an improved low-light photography experience. Like the vanilla iPhone 14 series smartphones, the Pro variants also come with Action Mode.
Apple iPhone 14 Battery Capacity, Charging Speed
The iPhone 14 is said to offer up to 20 hours of video playback, while the iPhone 14 Plus is said to feature a much more improved battery life with up to 26 hours of video playback. The iPhone 14 Pro is claimed to come with up to 23 hours of video playback, while the top-tier iPhone 14 Pro Max could serve up to 29 hours of video playback. The iPhone 14 series is claimed to offer the best battery life ever in an iPhone lineup.
As for the charging speeds, all four devices can be charged up to 50% in around 30 minutes with a 20W (or higher) charger. Plus, the devices support up to 15W MagSafe wireless charging and up to 7.5W Qi wireless charging.

As far as availability is concerned, the iPhone 14 will sell via Apple’s online store, Amazon, Flipkart, Croma, Reliance Digital, and various other retail partners across India. The iPhone 14 will be available for pre-order starting September 09, 2022, and the sale will start on September 16, 2022.
