Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had predicted that the upcoming iPhone 15 may include a USB Type-C port instead of a Lightning connector. Kuo has now revealed in a follow-up tweet that accessories such as the AirPods, MagSafe Battery Pack, Magic Keyboard, Mouse, and Trackpad would also migrate to USB-C in the “foreseeable future”.
Apple has gradually shifted some of its products such as the latest MacBooks and iPads to USB Type-C. Kuo previously stated in a tweet that the USB-C port will benefit iPhones by boosting transmission and charging speeds. A switch to USB-C would result in a more universal connectivity standard that could help Apple as well in the long run by making dedicated accessories supporting the Type-C standard.

Just last month, lawmakers of the European Parliament voted in favour of a legislation to make USB Type-C the default port on practically all major consumer electronics devices, including smartphones.
Due to existing wireless technology limits and the infancy of Apple’s own MagSafe ecosystem of wireless devices that attach magnetically to the iPhone, Kuo believes it is still too early for Apple to produce a portless iPhone.
