At WWDC 2022 on Monday, Apple announced the all-new M2 chipset. The next-generation Apple silicon builds upon the M1 and is being used in the new MacBooks including the MacBook Pro. While the Air series received a new design language, this MacBook Pro retains the original design with updated internals such as a Touch Bar, Thunderbolt ports, and no notch.

The panel has been massively improved, and it is now 20 percent brighter than the previous generation, with a whopping 500 nits of peak brightness and 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut support. The speakers and microphones are built within the keyboard. For stereo audio and better clarity, there’s a three-mic array and a four-speaker sound system with Spatial Audio capability.

This 2022 MacBook Pro model is powered by Apple’s new Silicon M2 chip. The M2 features a next-generation 8-core CPU with four performance cores and four high-efficiency cores, as well as up to 24GB of unified memory. The GPU now has ten cores, two more than the M1. In comparison to the M1, this new chipset offers an 18 percent performance boost overall.
When the new MacBook Pro arrives on store shelves next month, it will come preloaded with the latest version of macOS. Other features of the laptop include support for Wi-Fi 6, Thunderbolt ports, Apple’s ProRes, Active cooling system, Touch bar, magic keyboard, advanced camera ISP for crisp webcam output, studio quality mics, and 20 hours of battery life with support for fast charging.

The M2 MacBook Pro is available in two colour options, Space Grey and Silver. The MacBook Pro with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage costs ₹1,29,900, while the top-of-the-line model with 8GB RAM and 512GB storage costs ₹1,49,900. Both laptops will be available for purchase starting next month.
