There have been rumours of Apple working on a new rugged Apple Watch since last year. Now, a new report has some more interesting details about the upcoming smartwatch. The sports edition Apple Watch 8 will feature a larger display and metal casing.

This will make it one of its largest smartwatch displays to date. Meanwhile, the standard Apple Watch 8 is said to retain the 1.9-inch screen size of the Apple Watch 7.
The report adds that the screen area of the rugged Apple Watch will be nearly seven percent more than that of the Apple Watch 7. Additionally, it will have a resolution of approximately 410 x 502 pixels.

Apple Watch Series 8 Sports Edition: Build
The report notes that the rugged Apple Watch “will use a strong metal material rather than aluminum.” However, there’s no mention of the exact type of material in the report. It adds that the upcoming watch will feature a more shatter-resistant screen. Moreover, the outlet’s sources stated that it will gain a larger battery so that it can be used by athletes for longer workouts.
Apple Watch Series 8 Sports Edition: Sensors, Processor
The Apple Watch 8 sports model will get a body temperature sensor which can detect fevers, just like the standard Watch 8 model. Do note that it will not show you the exact temperature reading.
Additionally, the Apple Watch 8 line-up will be powered by an S8 processor. The S8 chip has the same processing power as the S7 and S6 chips powering its predecessors. The rugged Apple Watch 8 will likely cost more than $699.
