Asus finally brings its 11.6-inch CX1 Chromebook to India, one month after its global launch, in November 2021. It comes in 14-inch, 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch screen sizes. Despite being the cheapest of the lot, it doesn’t miss out on nifty features like drop protection, an Anti-Glare display, and a 180-degree display folding mechanism.
The Asus CX1 Chromebook would be perfect for video calls, online learning, social media and entertainment purposes. The majority of the Windows-powered laptops in this price point can’t even handle multiple Chrome tabs. In comparison, Google’s Chrome OS is fairly lighter than the Windows 10 OS and works better on similar hardware. Moreover, Chromebooks offer much better battery life when compared to similar Windows laptops.
Asus CX1 Chromebook Features, Specifications
The Asus CX1 Chromebook is fairly thin with 19.5mm thickness, and won’t help you build any muscle as it weighs just 1.24kg. It’s equipped with an 11.6-inch HD LCD with 220 nits peak brightness. Furthermore, it has a 67 percent screen-to-body ratio and gets very thick bezels all around the display, which isn’t a good look for a modern laptop.
Globally, the Asus CX1 Chromebook is powered by either a quad-core Intel Celeron N4120 or a dual-core Intel Celeron N4020 processor. The company hasn’t revealed its CPU specification for India yet. However, considering its aggressive price tag in India, expect it to be powered by the dual-core Intel Celeron N4020, which is also found in other laptops in this price category. The graphics will be handled by Intel’s embedded UHD Graphics 600. The Chromebook is equipped with 4GB LPDDR4 RAM and comes with a paltry 64 GB eMMC type storage. You can expand the storage via the microSD card slot though.
You need not worry about leaving this laptop around your sloppy kids, as it boasts an MIL-STD 810H certified robust construction to survive accidental drops. Moreover, it’s equipped with strong hinges and a spill-resistant keyboard. There’s a microphone and a 720P camera at the front for Zoom calls. For an immersive audio-video experience it comes with a dual stereo speaker setup.
Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C ports, and a microSD card reader. The Chromebook packs in a 42Whr 3-cell battery under its hood which promises an astounding 13 hours of battery backup on a single charge.
Asus CX1 Chromebook Price and Availability
The Asus CX1 Chromebook will go on sale from December 15 onwards and will be priced at ₹19,999. However, you can pick it up in the early bird sale from December 15 to December 21 for a discounted price of ₹18,990. It comes in a sole silver colour variant.
