Asus Zenfone 8 Getting Android 12 Beta Update

The Asus Zenfone 8 is getting a new Android 12 beta update according to a report. Shortly after the launch of the Pixel 6 devices with a stable build of Android 12, Asus announced that it would be rolling out the Android 12 update for its Asus Zenfone 8 smartphone in December 2021. Folks who expected a stable Android build will have to be content with the beta build for now.

The Asus Zenfone 8 was launched globally on May 12 2021. Asus India had teased the launch of the Zenfone 8 in India but later delayed the launch citing lockdown due to COVID-19 and supply issues in the country. We’re almost in 2022 and other manufacturers are ready with devices with newer chipsets, but there’s no word about its launch yet.

The Android 12 beta update with firmware version 31.1004.0404.55 is rolling out to some Zenfone 8 users. The update size is more than one gigabyte. If you are an Asus Zenfone 8 user, you can update it OTA (Over The Air). Bear in mind, though, that the update is for global users and will be rolled out in batches, depending upon the region. You can check for the update manually by navigating to your phone’s Settings > System > System updates.

The latest update 31.1004.0404.55 still carries the November 2021 Android security patch while the December security patch is already available. Asus might include the December security patch along with the Android stable build. Hope that Asus lives up to its promise of delivering the stable Android 12 update by the end of this month.
