Disney+ Hotstar, one of the most popular OTT services in India, competes with the likes of Amazon Prime Video and Netflix in the same price segment. Since the company increased the cost of its membership in India exactly one year ago, there haven’t been many new features added to its app or website. That may change soon, as Disney+ Hotstar is now testing Dolby Atmos on their Android App for select users.
A Reddit user first noticed this function on the Android app with version 13.4.3. The Hotstar team appears to be testing this functionality with a select group of users, and a wider deployment may roll out shortly.

The availability of the Dolby Atmos logo next to the TV program or film’s title makes it evident to users that it supports Dolby Atmos.
It’s also important to note that the app will only have Dolby Atmos support if your Android phone is compatible with it. The Reddit users did not see this capability on any English-language content, however, it may be added in the future or the company may be prioritizing regional content. This feature is readily available on both Amazon Prime Video and Netflix, and will certainly elevate the content viewing experience on Disney+ Hotstar as it launches in the future.
