Fitbit Versa 3 And Fitbit Sense Getting Fixes For Critical Bugs With Latest Security Update

Fitbit has been releasing new software updates for its fitness trackers, introducing new features with every iteration. Earlier this month, the company rolled out a new update for the Fitbit Charge 5 and Luxe fitness trackers. While the Charge 5 got a new clockface called “Boom” with two colour options, the Luxe received an additional clockface apart from the two “Boom” clockfaces. Now, the Fitbit Sense and Versa 3 are also getting new updates.

Fitbit Versa 3 And Fitbit Sense Security Update: What To Expect

With the latest update, the Fitbit Sense is getting version 44.128.6.17 and the Versa 3 is receiving version 36.128.6.17. The aforementioned fitness trackers run on Fitbit OS 5.3.1 and the changelog states, “This release includes bug fixes, improvements, and an important security update.”

The changelog highlights the importance of the security update, noting that, “the security update patches a vulnerability that, if exploited, could compromise data security, potentially allowing access to confidential or sensitive data but stopping short of full code execution.”

According to 9to5Google, the latest update does not include any cosmetic changes. Fitbit’s latest security patch appears to only bring under-the-hood changes and bug fixes.

Fitbit Ace 3, Charge 4, And Inspire 2 Also Receive Critical Security Update

Additionally, the report notes that the Ace 3, Charge 4, Inspire 2 have also received an update that includes “bug fixes, improvements, and a critical security update.” The changelog states, “The security update patches a vulnerability that, if exploited, could allow attacker-supplied code to gain unrestricted access and potentially go undetected by the customer.”
