Garmin has announced two new running smartwatches today, which also happens to be Global Running Day. The Forerunner 255 and Forerunner 955 are the latest additions to Garmin’s Forerunner lineup of wearables. Both smartwatches feature multi-band GPS, SpO2 sensors, and race widget.

Garmin Forerunner 255 And Forerunner 955 Price, Availability
The Garmin Forerunner 255 and Forerunner 955 smartwatches are currently available for purchase in the US and Canada. The Forerunner 255 price starts at $349 (around ₹27,000) for the basic model, while the 255 Music retails for $399 (around ₹31,000). The Garmin Forerunner 955 Solar is on the pricier side, costing $599 (around ₹46,400). However, the non-Solar model can be purchased for $499 (around ₹38,700).
The Garmin Forerunner 255 is available in the following colours—gray, pink, blue, and black. The Forerunner 955 is available in white and black colourways. The smartwatches can be purchased via Garmin’s website.

Garmin Forerunner 255 And Forerunner 955 Specifications, Features
The Garmin Forerunner 255 includes the following models— the standard 255, 255 Music, 255S, and 255S Music. The vanilla 255 features a 1.3-inch display and comes with 4GB of onboard storage. The Forerunner 255 Music, as the name suggests, is music-centric and allows you to store up to 500 songs on your smartwatch. The Forerunner 255S is smaller than the standard 255 with a 1.1-inch display.
One of the standout features in the new series of Garmin Forerunner 255 series of smartwatches is multi-band GPS, which offers accurate running data. Additionally, it supports Garmin Pay for contactless payments.
The Forerunner 255 series promises up to 14 days of battery life in smartwatch mode. On the other hand, GPS mode is reported to offer up to 30 hours of battery life. It can measure heart rate variability (HRV) and features a built-in heart rate monitor. Women can use the Garmin Connect app to track their menstrual cycles.
The pricier Forerunner 955 Solar has a few more features when compared to the 255 series. One of the highlights is its solar-powered battery. Garmin claims that it will power the smartwatch for up to 20 hours on a single charge in smartwatch mode. In GPS mode, the 955 Solar will function for up to 49 hours. The UltraTrac mode promises to power up the watch for the longest duration—up to 110 hours.
The Forerunner 955 Solar includes many of the features offered by the 255, such as HRV and Garmin Pay. The 955 packs a few extra fitness tracking functions via “Firstbeat Analytics” for training.
