Recent changes to Chrome OS code suggest that Google has already started working to provide shiny RGB keyboards for Chromebooks. Would it be just like buying any USB or Bluetooth connected keyboard with RGB lighting? Well, rumor has it that Chrome OS’s RGB support is being prepared for a select few unreleased devices and will be more than just a “generic feature” and will certainly ensure native RGB support. Below is the new feature flag that suggests the upcoming RGB Keyboard support feature:

To begin with, wouldn’t it be great if you could customize each key of your keyboard as per your liking? Being able to vary the intensity of red, green, and blue lighting and adjust the keyboard’s overall backlight brightness to suit your eyes has become one of the prime aspects of the gaming laptops available in the market.
Chrome OS developers will use an internal command to bring the aforementioned changes to future Chromebooks. Chrome OS will supposedly have a tool for gamers to change the colors of their keyboards in the future.

Potential Makers Of The First Gaming Chromebooks
There appear to be three hardware codenames associated with making the first gaming Chromebooks-Vell, Taniks, and Ripple. Vell and Taniks are based on Intel’s 12th Gen Alder Lake laptop processors. The third codename, Taniks, appears to be the internal name of a detachable keyboard.
Vell is being created by Quanta (an ODM who makes Chromebooks for various brands). Quanta employees contributing to Vell’s development were also tasked with recently-launched devices from HP, which might lead to a possibility of HP planning to release a Chromebook in their OMEN lineup.
Furthermore, LCFC, a part of Lenovo manufacturing, works on Taniks, hinting that Lenovo’s Legion series of gaming computers will soon have a Chromebook. While work on Ripple has just begun, it strongly suggests that a gaming-focused detachable Chrome OS tablet is on its way too.
Hopefully, we can expect Google to reveal the release dates for gaming Chromebooks and RGB keyboards in the future.
