Wednesday’s Samsung Unpacked event saw Google announce that it will now be possible to preview YouTube videos right from the Messages app. Tapping on the link will launch the video without leaving the app. You will also get basic control options during in-app video playback.
Currently, previews of YouTube links only show an image and a text alongside the link. On the other hand, Apple’s iMessage has a better video preview option. Now, Google appears to be trying to keep up with the iPhone maker in this regard. Google Message’s YouTube preview feature will initially roll out to the Galaxy S22 series and Galaxy Tab S8 series. The coming weeks should see the feature rolling out to other devices as well.

This update will allow Android users to view iMessage reactions as Google emojis. Previously, when iMessage users reacted to messages, Android users would get a separate text mentioning the reaction followed by the original message.
Another recent YouTube update is Google Duo’s live sharing feature, which will allow users to watch, share, and pause YouTube with friends on Duo video calls. The Samsung Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Ultra and Tab S8 devices are reported to be the first to receive the new live sharing feature.
