Under the leadership of Shenzhen Zhixin New Information Technology, HONOR has escaped the US sanctions imposed on its original parent company Huawei. With access to Google services restored, HONOR is back in business with three new handsets in the Magic 3 series. The fresh lineup includes three smartphones: HONOR Magic 3, HONOR Magic 3 Pro, and HONOR Magic 3 Pro+. The trio runs Android 11 with Magic UI 5.0 on top, and yes, they have access to GMS (Google Mobile Services), which means you can install apps and games through the Google Play Store and get regular Android updates in the future.

The screen covers the 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut and supports HDR10+. The OLED display comes with an optical integrated fingerprint scanner. It device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 processor. It has 8GB RAM and an option to choose between 128GB and 256GB UFS 3.1 internal storage.
On the photography front, the Magic 3 is loaded with a triple-camera setup that consists of a 50MP main sensor, a 13MP ultrawide camera, and a 64MP monochrome sensor. For selfies, you get a 13MP snapper that sits inside the display’s punch-hole. The phone can record 4K videos at up to 60fps using its rear-facing camera setup. The front-facing camera is limited to 1080p video recording at 30fps.
The HONOR Magic 3 is rated at IP54 for dust and water splash resistance. It comes with stereo speakers and a USB Type-C port that is also capable of offering audio out signals. Other features include 5G, 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and GPS. The handset holds a 4,600 mAh battery with 66W fast-charging technology.

The HONOR Magic 3 Pro is backed by a more powerful Snapdragon 888+ SoC (System on Chip). The phone comes in 8GB and 12GB RAM variants. Depending on the option you choose, you get either 256GB or 512GB internal storage.
As opposed to the triple-camera setup on the standard Magic 3, the Magic 3 Pro comes with a quad-camera module. It has a 50MP main snapper, a 13MP ultrawide camera, a 64MP monochrome sensor, and a 64MP telephoto sensor with a 3.5x optical zoom periscope lens. The Magic 3 Pro model is better equipped to withstand dust and water, owing to its IP68 rating.
Much like the HONOR Magic 3, this phone sports a 6.7-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, QHD+ resolution, and HDR10+. The rest of the specifications are in line with its younger sibling except for the addition of 50W fast wireless charging and a ToF sensor accompanying the selfie camera. The ToF sensor helps with secure face unlock.
HONOR Magic 3 Pro+ Specifications
The HONOR Magic 3 Pro+ is the most expensive one in the lot. Powered by the Snapdragon 888+ chipset, this handset only comes in a 12GB RAM + 512GB internal storage variant. The phone’s 6.7-inch OLED screen has a special nano-crystal shield coating for scratch resistance. It has a QHD+ resolution (2772 x 1344 pixels), a 120 Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+.
For shutterbugs, the Magic 3 Pro+ offers a 50MP primary camera, 64MP ultrawide camera, 64 MP monochrome sensor (apparently, for increasing the details), and 64MP telephoto camera with a 3.5x optical zoom. Moving around the front, the 13MP shooter which is paired with a depth-sensing ToF sensor to power the face unlock feature.
The Magic 3 Pro+ is rated at IP68 for dust and water resistance. It can survive 1.5m underwater for up to half an hour. The phone is powered by a 4,600mAh battery that supports 66W fast charging. HONOR has also baked in 50W fast wireless charging as well as reverse charging capability. The phone has 5G, 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, GPS, and USB 3.1 Type-C port.
HONOR Magic 3 Series Price and Availability
The HONOR Magic 3 Series will first hit the stores in China. The company also has plans for global rollout but hasn’t shared any timeline yet. The HONOR Magic 3 has a starting price of EUR 899 (around ₹78,500). The HONOR Magic 3 Pro is priced at EUR 1,099 (around ₹95,900). Finally, the top-end Magic 3 Pro+ will set you back for at least EUR 1,499 (around ₹1,30,700).
