Honor recently announced its Magic 4 series of flagship smartphones for the international markets. It introduced the vanilla Honor Magic 4 and the Honor Magic 4 Pro at the MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2022. Now, it has unveiled the top dog of the Magic 4 series, which it proudly calls the Honor Magic 4 Ultimate. Staying true to its name, the device has also achieved the ultimate position in the DXOMARK ratings with a top score of 146 points, beating the Huawei P50 Pro by 2 points. Just like the other Magic 4 smartphones, this handset too gets a circular camera design at the rear called the “eye of muse” design. It sports a large 6.81-inch OLED panel with LTPO, which can adjust the screen refresh rate between 120Hz to 1Hz. It also comes with a high-frequency PWM dimming at 1,920 Hz. Honor says that the independent display chip enhances the overall visuals and reduces flickering.
The Honor Magic 4 Ultimate is powered by Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, which is built on the 4nm fabrication process. The handset is equipped with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage.
Cameras are the mainstay of this smartphone. It packs in a very large 1/1.12-inch primary sensor with a resolution of 50 MP. It comes with 1.4 µm pixels (2.8 µm with binning), 8P lens, f/1.6 aperture, and OIS. The ultra-wide shooter is a 64MP sensor with a 7P lens, f/2.2 aperture, and a 126-degree field of view. It can also click HD macro stills. The third camera is a 64MP telephoto snapper with a ½-inch sensor, 90mm lens, 3.5x optical zoom, and OIS. The fourth camera is a new 50MP spectral enhanced camera with 1/ 2.5-inch sensor and f/2.0 aperture. Supporting the quad-camera setups are the 8×8 dToF sensor and an 8-channel flicker sensor. Handling the selfie duties are the 12MP shooter with a 100-degree wide view and a 3D depth sensor.
Honor says the handset packs in a custom image processor that delivers 28.8 TOPS peak performance with a power efficiency of 13.4 TOPS per Watt. It also supports 3D LUTS, HDR10+, and has the ability to record 4K video at 60 fps.
The Honor Magic 4 Ultimate is powered by a 4,600mAh battery under its hood. It comes with a 100-watt wired fast charging tech and supports 50-watt wireless charging. The smartphone runs on Magic UI 6.0 skin on top of the Android 12 operating system.
Honor Magic 4 Ultimate: Price, Availability
The Honor Magic 4 Ultimate will go on sale in China later this year. It is priced at CNY 8,000 (approx. ₹95,645). It will come in black and white colourways. The company hasn’t revealed its plans to launch the device globally.
