HOP Electric Mobility, a Jaipur based EV company has revealed its first electric motorcycle for India. The HOP OXO 100 is currently in its testing phase and is expected to be launched soon. The company showcased the vehicle under its #OXOSNEAKPEEK program, to its select dealers and consumers to gain feedback about the product. This would help the company engineers to understand the requirements of the people and make the necessary changes before it hits the market.
According to Ketan Mehta, CEO and Co-Founder, HOP Electric Mobility, the HOP OXO 100 has undergone about 30,000 kilometres of road testing in different conditions. The 20 cities where it tested the motorcycle include Jaipur, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Jodhpur, and Ludhiana, among others. Also, a consumer-based trial is something unique in the Indian automotive scene. HOP Electric is the first Indian EV manufacturer to perform such a trial.
HOP OXO 100 Electric Motorcycle Expectations
The company has shared a teaser video of its upcoming HOP OXO 100 EV on its website. According to the teaser, the motorcycle looks vastly different from its official design render. The headlight of the motorcycle is somewhat similar to the Hero Xtreme 160r and seems to get a halogen light setup. You can clearly see that it has dual shock absorbers at the rear along with a disc brake. Its major rival, the Revolt RV400 gets LED DRLs with projectors, upside-down front shock absorbers, and a mono-shock at the rear, which gives it an upper hand.
The HOP OXO 100 comes with alloy wheels and may get tubeless tyres. The rear tyre looks like a 120 section wheel. The motorcycle will get a main-stand, which many motorcycles miss nowadays. It comes with turn indicators flanking the headlight and flush-fitting DRLs (Daytime Running Lights) on the tank cowl.
The HOP OXO 100 electric motorcycle is said to achieve a top speed of 100kmph. It will adopt a swappable battery technology like the Bounce Infinity E1 electric scooter, and is claimed to travel up to 100kms before running out of juice, which should be enough for city runabouts. The company is currently taking pre-bookings online for ₹999 on its website. The Revolt RV400 sells for approximately ₹1.25 lakh ex-showroom. The HOP OXO 100, being low on features in comparison, should undercut the Revolt RV400 by a significant margin to lure customers.
