At WWDC 2022, Apple announced several updates for various software platforms, including iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS Ventura, and watchOS 9. The new updates will bring tons of features and customisations to the iPhone, Mac, and iPad. Starting with the iPhone, the iOS 16 is getting a Dictation upgrade to make typing by speaking simpler and faster.
The Dictation upgrade is built into iOS 16 and is scheduled to be rolled out to the general public this autumn. While the public beta testing of the update is scheduled to begin in July, developers eager to test it can download the first iOS 16 now.
iPhone Dictation Mixes Voice And Touch Input In iOS 16
The iPhone’s Dictation feature lets you enter text just by speaking. The newest iOS version will make the task even simpler for you by combining voice and text input. It allows you to enter the text with your voice, then manually type in a word you know the iPhone won’t understand, and then finish the sentence with your voice.

Furthermore, there’s another AI-powered feature coming, which will handle the punctuation part for you. You will no longer need to enter punctation in your text with the latest Dictation upgrade built into the iOS 16. Additionally, the voice-recognition will let you add emoji dictation as well. For instance, you can say “mind blown emoji” and have that emoji inserted into your text message.
