A Jaguar i-Pace electric SUV went up in flames in Florida, according to a report. The incident occurred in the Boynton Beach area of Florida, where a 2019-manufactured Jaguar i-Pace caught fire while parked in a garage. It is reportedly the fourth fire incident involving a Jaguar i-Pace electric vehicle since its launch in 2018.
The owner of the EV, Gonzalo Salazar, drove the car for 12 miles after charging it overnight and parked the car after returning home again. Later, he heard some popping noises from the garage and rushed to check the vehicle. He noticed a thick wall of smoke and decided to get the car out of the garage to avoid any damage to his garage or house.

The aftermath was such that it was reduced to ashes, while only the bonnet area remained. Fortunately, the owner escaped unharmed in this incident.
Emergency crews and firefighters had a difficult time putting out the fire. It is reported that they had to use an advanced fire suppressing foam to extinguish it completely. According to a report, the Jaguar i-Pace EV’s battery contains the same LG Chem cells that feature in the Chevrolet Bolt EV’s battery unit, which was recalled for faulty lithium-ion battery modules. The insurance company has declared the car as a total loss, and Jaguar has taken it in its possession for further investigation. The British brand, owned by Tata Motors of India, is still trying to ascertain the cause of the fire.
