Jio Phone 5G Specifications, Launch Date Leaked

After launching the affordable JioPhone Next last year, it looks like Reliance is shifting its focus towards the launch of its 5G smartphone. The telco is said to be prepping up for the launch of the 5G device later this year, which is dubbed as the JioPhone 5G. Though the renders of the device are yet to revealed, we have the specifications of the handset coming in courtesy of folks at Android Central. As per the leaked specifications, the upcoming JioPhone 5G will offer mediocre specifications and support for  N3, N5, N28, N40, and N78 bands.

JioPhone 5G Specifications Revealed

It is reported that the JioPhone 5G will flaunt a 6.5-inch display with an HD+ resolution. The smartphone’s display will have a punch-hole cutout and thin bezels. The device will come powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 480 5G processor, which will be accompanied by 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. For further storage expansion, the handset will even have a microSD card slot.

Similar to the JioPhone Next, the JioPhone 5G will run a customized version of Android 11 out of the box. The JioPhone 5G will include Google Assistant support, instant translation via Google Lens and Google Translate, read-aloud text feature, and a host of digital suite of apps such as MyJio, JioTV, JioCinema, and JioSaavan.

As for the optics, the handset will boast of a 13MP primary camera on the rear. The 13MP sensor will be accompanied by a 2MP macro lens. The selfie department will be handled by an 8MP camera. The whole package will be backed by a 5,000mAh battery which will offer 18W fast charging support. The device will have connectivity features such as Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.1, A-GPS, GLONASS, NavIC, 5G, and dual-SIM card support.

The report further states that the JioPhone 5G is in the prototyping phase. The telecom giant is tipped to be launching multiple SKUs under the JioPhone 5G moniker, and the above-mentioned specifications pertain to one of the models.

At this moment, other details of the device such as pricing and availability remain unknown. It is reported that the JioPhone 5G could be unveiled in June during its annual shareholder meeting. We will get to learn more details of the device if it appears on benchmarking websites or certifications ahead of the launch.
