Now, in a note to investors, Kuo states that the Apple Lossless (ALAC) audio and the charging case that emits sounds will be the major highlights of the wireless earphones, and expects it to fly off the shelves.
The current AirPods also emit a sound allowing to locate them via the Find My app. Apple seems to have integrated the feature into the charging case this time around. The charging case would carry small speakers under its hood allowing you to track the charging case and AirPods individually.
The current crop of AirPods, whether it’s the third-gen AirPods or the AirPods Pro, lack Lossless audio. It’s the Bluetooth technology to be blamed here as it supports the AAC codec for music streaming and not the ALAC. Apple is believed to be developing an alternative to Bluetooth to stream Apple’s Lossless Audio Codec for its future AirPods lineup.
According to previous reports by Bloomberg, the 2022 AirPods Pro were believed to ditch the long stem and adopt a new design. Kuo’s claims corroborates with this report as he states that the new generation AirPods Pro will undergo an overhaul in design and also feature motion sensors for fitness tracking. He expects the new earbuds to launch in the fourth quarter of 2022.
