Microsoft is finally rolling out its first major Windows 11 update, with access to Amazon Appstore “preview” for American users. The update comes several months after the company unveiled the latest software. The tech giant has collaborated with Amazon to integrate Amazon Appstore within the Microsoft Store to provide around 1000 Android apps. The announcement regarding the same was first made back in January, and now the company has released the update to offer roughly 1000 apps, including Amazon’s own Audible and Kindle apps and third-party titles such as Lords Mobile and Khan Academy Kids. While the users won’t be able to get a Google Play Store-like experience, it is still a good start.

Moreover, the upgrade introduces some changes to the OS that includes improvements in the taskbar. Devices running on Windows 11 now shows date and time on the taskbar on a second monitor connected to the computer, while the weather widget taskbar component shows live information. With the new update, Team users can now quickly mute calls or share any window.
Additionally, Microsoft has redesigned the Media Player and Notepad apps. The upgraded Media Player now has a “full-featured” music library. The Notepad interface also gets support for dark mode, simpler menus and features such as multi-level undos.
