The new smart home standard called Matter aims to close the gap between all the many technologies that are now in use. You will now be able to manage your Apple HomeKit products using any of your existing Google Assistant smart displays and Matter. Nearly every significant manufacturer of AIoT devices have joined the Matter project, and everyone is preparing to release support by the end of 2022.
Given that a “Matter devices & services” category has surfaced in some users’ Google account settings, it appears that the company is rather well along in its testing. The new setting can be found in the “Devices & sharing” section of the Google account settings, which are accessible through system settings or by pressing the Google profile symbol in many Google apps’ upper right corner.

From the settings pane, you can add a new device. It appears that by default, Matter devices that are not associated with you will alert you when they are close. Google may be progressively releasing the settings panel via a server-side update as the upgrade has not yet been made publicly available.
We won’t have to wait too long for this new update to roll out to everyone as Google is scheduled to provide complete support for Matter in fall 2022.
