MediaTek has launched the Genio 1200 chipset, which is designed specifically for AIoT products. The company has a substantial presence in the chipset business, with 95 percent of Smart TVs and up to 40 percent of smartphones worldwide powered by its SoC.
With MediaTek’s foray in the AIoT space, we may see powerful smart devices such as security cameras, doorbells, and more with its new Genio 1200 chip. The Genio series of chips, including the Genio 130, Genio 350, and Genio 500, have been available for a while, although they were primarily focused on low-power applications. The Genio 1200, on the other hand, supports 4K monitors, has 4.8 TOPs AI acceleration, and is more power-efficient.

It will also support a number of interfaces, including PCI-Express, USB 3.1, and GbE MAC, as well as MediaTek’s WiFi 6E and sub-6 5G modules.

The Genio 1200 chipset is expected to be commercially accessible in the second half of 2022, although it is unclear who will benefit from it when it does.
