MG Motors, a British auto company, now owned by the SAIC group of China, has initiated a new project called MG Charge from March 3. The aim of the MG Charge initiative is to install 1,000 chargers in residential areas across India within 1,000 days. MG will partner with Electreefi, Echargebays, Exicom, Resident Welfare Associations, and others to kick start this project.
The company hasn’t revealed the societies it has identified to set up the charging infrastructure yet, but is expected to provide the details later. MG Motors says that it will be installing type 2 AC fast chargers. The company adds that it can support most of the current crop of EVs available in the market and is future proof. MG Motors India states that these chargers will be operational all throughout the day. They will be the smart type with SIM enabled and will come with the shareable charger management system.

MG Motors To Launch 2022 MG ZS EV SUV
MG Motors was one of the first manufacturers in India to bring its mid-range electric SUV. The Chinese company launched its first electric vehicle, the MG ZS EV, in COVID-19 ridden 2020. Now, this announcement comes just a few days ahead of the launch of MG’s refreshed 2022 MG ZS EV SUV, which is scheduled for March 7. The car will be receiving mid-life updates after two years from its launch in the country. It is expected to come with a tweaked front end, improved infotainment system, larger battery packs with some extra horses, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems).
