Microsoft is reportedly working on a couple of new features for the Windows 11 operating system. Albacore, a Windows enthusiast, shared some of the features which could make an appearance in future Windows updates. The user unearthed some hidden features such as stickers for desktop wallpapers, tablet mode features, and features to enhance the PC’s sustainability. This news comes shortly after Microsoft announced that the company would be working on new features for Windows 11 all throughout 2022.
It is not the first time somebody has been able to discover unreleased features in Windows. For years, Windows experts and enthusiasts have been digging into the OS for some interesting details and features, which haven’t been activated yet. Some of the features are just for testing purposes and may never see the light of day.
Windows 11 Stickers for Desktop Wallpapers
Albacore suggests that the stickers will be available for all the wallpapers. You will be able to choose stickers from messaging or social media apps and customise them from your PC. Stickers can be edited via a new Sticker Editor app. This will also aid in customising your Windows Desktop menu.
According to the user, it is highly likely that the stickers feature will be limited for single monitor usage. Also, this feature was found to be linked with Windows 11 policies related to educational use. Affordable laptops for students are currently shipped with Windows 11 SE onboard, on which the apps always open in full screen mode on a single display. This could mean that the stickers feature is developed to run on the Windows 11 SE or some consumer-specific versions.
Sustainability, Tablet Mode
The Windows 11 Settings section might include sustainability options, which could help in saving battery and prompt you about device recycling benefits and awareness. The company also aims at renaming the Focus Assist feature to just ‘Focus’ along with advanced controls.
Windows 11 doesn’t get a dedicated tablet mode. But, now Albacore has found certain elements in the operating system, which hints at the return of the tablet mode. “Automatically hide the taskbar when using your device as a tablet” feature has popped up, which the Windows 10’s tablet mode came with. So, it could make an appearance in the Windows 11 tablet mode as well.
After these reports came to Microsoft’s attention, the company stated that certain features were disabled and it will only comment on the features that it is planning to enable specifically for the Insiders.
