Higher frame rates make games smoother and more responsive, giving you the edge, especially during intense multiplayer battles. Some original game titles that ran on lower frame rates due to the hardware limitations back in the day, will now render quickly and provide a smoother experience, thanks to the new optimisation techniques adopted by Xbox.
Microsoft clarifies that it had to lower the resolution of some games to provide the FPS boost feature. In such cases, FPS Boost is not automatically enabled for Xbox Series X and Series S gamers. It can be easily turned on under the Compatibility Options in the Manage game and add-ons setting. Here, you can toggle it ‘On’ to experience the FPS Boost feature. Make sure that your console is updated to the latest firmware and you’ve rebooted your gaming console.
