Motorola has announced the third generation Edge smartphone—the Motorola Edge (2022). This new offering from Motorola is the first phone in the world to utilise MediaTek’s octa-core Dimensity 1050 chipset. The Dimensity 1050 is a 6nm SoC from MediaTek that employs two Cortex-A78 CPU cores (2.5GHz), six A55 cores (2.0GHz), and a Mali-G610 MC3 GPU. The smartphone features a 6.6-inch OLED display that has a Full HD+ resolution and HDR10+ support. The device flaunts a triple-camera setup and packs a 5,000mAh battery which supports 30W fast charging via a USB Type-C port.

The Motorola Edge (2022) price is set to $500 (roughly ₹39,900) for a limited time. The phone is currently listed on Motorola’s US website and it will go on sale via AT&T, Verizon, and unlocked at Best Buy. The device comes in a sole gray colour model.

The Motorola Edge (2022) comes with a 6.6-inch OLED display that has Full HD+ 1,080 x 2,400 pixel resolution. The display panel has a 20:9 aspect ratio, a 144Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+ support. The smartphone features a fingerprint sensor beneath the display.

Under the hood, the device is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 1050 6nm chipset. The smartphone comes in two RAM and storage configurations. The base model packs 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, while the top-end variant is equipped with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The device boots Android 12 OS out of the box.

When it comes to imaging, the smartphone features a triple-camera setup comprising a 64MP main sensor with an f/1.8 lens and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), 64MP sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide lens (which can snap macro shots as well) and a depth sensor. For selfies and video calling, the phone relies on a 32MP lens with an f/2.45 aperture.

The device is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery that has 30W TurboPower charging support. The phone also supports 15W wireless charging and 5W reverse charging. Other key features of the Motorola Edge (2022) include an IP52 rating, support for 5G, sub-6 and mmWave, nanoSIM and eSIM support, dual speakers with Dolby Atmos sound, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and a USB Type-C port.
