To appeal to a larger audience, Ola Electric may be preparing to introduce a new electric scooter with a lower price and fewer features. According to CEO Bhavish Aggarwal’s tweet, the new Ola electric scooter—possibly an Ola S1 variant—will be unveiled on October 22 during the company’s Diwali celebration. Although not much is known about the vehicle just yet, it is predicted that Ola could price it under ₹80,000, placing it right next to some ICE scooters.
Bhavish Aggarwal, the CEO of Ola Electric, tweeted about a Diwali 2022 event where he discussed an upcoming “big announcement.” There are likely to be a number of surprises and updates during the event on October 22. Aggarwal has been quite aggressive with Ola’s approach and at one point claimed to surpass ICE scooter sales within the next two years. By March 2024, the FAME-II subsidy would be gone, hence all big future EV manufacturers are scrambling to release their vehicles. This new affordable Ola electric is coming in just at the right time.
