Earlier this month, OnePlus launched its latest flagship device, the OnePlus 10 Pro with a triple-rear camera setup tuned by Hasselblad. New reports now claim that the company is trying to outdo itself later this year by launching an even more powerful handset.
The upcoming device, reportedly dubbed the OnePlus 10 Ultra, is said to offer improved features over the OnePlus 10 Pro. These features include a faster processor, better cameras, and improved hardware. Tipster Yogesh Brar hinted that the OnePlus 10 Ultra could be launched in the second half of 2022.
Technology Sharing Between OnePlus and Oppo
Brar also noted that smartphone makers OnePlus and Oppo have been sharing technologies, with the Oppo Find X5 utilising OnePlus’ Hasselblad technology. The Oppo Find X5 may launch later this year.
As a part of this technology sharing between the two companies, OnePlus is rumoured to use the MariSilicon NPU chipset developed by Oppo. The Oppo MariSilicon X is a neural processing unit (NPU) that is reported to greatly enhance the quality of photos and videos. It will be fabricated using TSMC’s 6nm process. The next-gen Find X series, to be announced in Q1 2022, will be the first phones to use this chip.
Brar claims that the OnePlus 10 Ultra could debut in the second half of this year. OnePlus’ newest flagship device is currently going through testing and validation. The OnePlus 10 Ultra may borrow other features from the Oppo Find X5 Pro Plus, but these details are still under wraps. We can expect more details to emerge as we get closer to the launch date.
It remains to be seen how the OnePlus 10 Ultra will stack up against the OnePlus 10 Pro. The latter is powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. Additionally, it boasts of a 48-megapixel Hasselblad camera. Its price starts from RMB 4,699 (around ₹54,540).
