While Samsung dominates the foldable phones market, other brands such as Oppo, Motorola and Vivo have been trying to establish a firm footing in the foldable space. If rumours are to be believed, OnePlus is also preparing to release its own foldable smartphone.
Tipster Max Jambor shared via a tweet that OnePlus is planning to launch its own foldable next year, in 2023. Jambor told 9to5Google that the firm will release “multiple” foldable devices in 2023. And no, the OnePlus 10 Pro cannot be considered the firm’s first foldable even if it did fold in half after a rigorous bend test.

There could be some truth to this, considering that many OnePlus smartphones are rebranded Oppo phones. An older rumour hinted that the firm could be developing a smartphone with three folds and two hinges. While the tipster didn’t allude to any features of the foldable, the report speculated that the next-generation of the Oppo Find N could be rebranded as a OnePlus folding phone.
It remains to be seen if OnePlus releases different styles of foldables in 2023. The design of the Oppo Find N itself appears to be inspired by the Galaxy Z Fold. OnePlus could also be influenced by the design of the Galaxy Z Flip 3. While there are plenty of foldables to be inspired by, the firm could also conjure up its own unique design.
Unfortunately, don’t expect OnePlus to release all of its folding smartphones in the global market. It may follow in the footsteps of the Oppo Find N, which was launched exclusively in China. However, considering that the phones may be rebranded versions of the Oppo phones, we can hope that OnePlus will release its upcoming foldables in more countries across the world.
