The OPPO A16 smartphone has hit the store shelves in India. As per the Amazon listing, the phone seems to feature a plastic body with a frosted glass-like finish. It comes with a waterdrop notch to accommodate a selfie camera. Apart from that, it features a triple-camera setup, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a large battery. According to OPPO, the display is tuned for a 60Hz refresh rate along with 60 Hz touch sampling. The display panel has a peak brightness of 480 nits.
The phone is powered by MediaTek’s Helio G35 chip. It is built on a 12nm fabrication process and houses eight CPU cores. As per OPPO India’s website, the A16 comes in 3GB and 4GB RAM variants. The base model packs in 32GB of internal storage, whereas the 4GB variant will offer 64GB of internal storage. There is a microSD card slot for storage expansion.
Moving on to the camera, you get a 13MP main sensor along with a 2MP macro and a 2MP depth sensor. The primary camera can record Full HD videos at 30 fps. Selfies are taken care of by an 8MP front-facing snapper. OPPO has baked in “AI” to boost the results from all these cameras.
The handset covers 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, a USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. On the software front, the smartphone settles for Android 11 with ColorOS customisations on top. The A16 houses a large 5,000 mAh battery. To prolonge its health, OPPO has implemented an optimised Night Charging Mode that charges the battery slowly to minimise wear.

The OPPO A16 price in India is ₹13,990 for the 4GB RAM variant. The 3GB RAM variant hasn’t gone on sale yet. The phone is available in black and blue hues, and it can be purchased from Amazon and brick-and-mortar shops across the country. It is available for purchase in India starting today. The smartphone competes with the likes of Realme Narzo 30 and Redmi Note 10.
