After toiling for four long years, Oppo is finally ready with a production unit of its first foldable smartphone. Christened as the Oppo Find N, it was one of the many prototypes the company tested rigorously over the years. Its closest competitor, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, is in its third generation and more refined than before. But Oppo didn’t seem to have the luxury of multiple attempts before perfecting one, especially in this niche segment of foldable devices. The company was focused on getting it right from the onset and is optimistic to take on the heavyweights in the category by providing more value to the buyers.

The outer screen is a 5.49-inch AMOLED display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, 60Hz refresh rate, and Gorilla Glass Victus protection. Interestingly it has a flat-screen towards the hinge side and a curved screen on the other side. Once unfolded, you get a screen real estate of 7.1-inch LTPO AMOLED display, which has variable refresh rates from 1Hz to 120 Hz depending on the content. Both the screens can reach a maximum peak brightness of 1000nits.
Oppo’s proprietary Flexion hinge works in tandem with the Ultra-Thin display to allow the display to form a waterdrop shape while closed. Oppo says it has 80 percent lesser crease at the center in comparison to its rivals. It is certified by TUV and claims to offer a crease-free experience even after a cumulative 2,00,000 folding and unfolding. The hinge allows the display to be set between 50-degree to 120-degree for media consumption or photography.
The Oppo Find N utilises the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 as opposed to the recently announced Snapdragon 8 Gen.1. It is equipped with up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
The Oppo Find N inherits its primary sensor from the Oppo Find X3 Pro, which is the 50MP Sony IMX766 with PDAF and OIS. It is accompanied by 16MP ultra-wide and 13MP telephoto sensors. The outer and inner screens get their selfie cameras hidden in a punch hole. Selfie aficionados would be elated as all five cameras can be used to click selfies as it is a foldable smartphone.
The handset is powered by a 4,500mAh battery under its hood and supports both wired and wireless charging. You get a modest 33W SuperVOOC fast-charging support and a leisurely 15W AirVOOC wireless charging. You can even hook up compatible devices for 10-watt reverse charging.
Oppo Find N Price, Availability
The Oppo Find N will be launched in China with sales starting from December 23. It is priced RMB 7,699 (approx. ₹92,321) for the 8GB/256GB version. The top-spec 12GB/512 GB variant will cost you RMB 8,999 (approx. ₹1,08,000). Oppo says that it has no plans to launch the Find N globally as of now. Maybe there’s a lot of work to be done to optimise support for the suite of apps by Google and others which aren’t used in China.
