Oppo has taken the wraps off its latest Reno 8 series of smartphones in its home country, China, today. The series comprises three handsets, namely the Oppo Reno 8, Oppo Reno 8 Pro, and the Oppo Reno 8 Pro+. The trio carries the same design language and shares some of the specifications. However, all three devices will be powered by different mobile processors from Qualcomm’s and MediaTek’s stable.

Oppo Reno 8 Series: Features, Specifications
The Oppo Reno series is popular for its design and build quality, and the Reno 8 series is not an exception. The Reno 8 pro and the Reno 8 Pro+ get metal frames with a distinctive rear design. Glad that the styling isn’t inspired by Apple’s iPhones or Samsung’s devices. The Oppo Reno 8 series of smartphones are very slim with thicknesses ranging from 7.4mm to 7.7mm. At the front, the display comes with very slim bezels all around, which enhance its appeal even further. The Reno 8 Pro+ comes with a centrally placed punch-hole camera cutout on the display. The vanilla Reno 8 and Reno 8 Pro get a left-aligned punch hole camera cut-out.
The Oppo Reno Pro gets a 6.62-inch E4 AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, while the Oppo Reno Pro+ comes with a 6.7-inch Full HD+ OLED panel with a 120Hz screen refresh rate. On the other hand, the vanilla Reno 8 gets a smaller 6.43-inch OLED panel with a 90Hz screen refresh rate. The vanilla Oppo Reno 8 is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1300 chipset, the Oppo Reno 8 Pro gets the latest Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC, and the Oppo Reno 8 Pro+ comes with the Dimensity 8100-Max chipset. The top of the line Reno 8 Pro+ is equipped with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
In the photography department, the Oppo Reno 8 Pro+ and Reno 8 Pro come with a primary 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor with f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP ultrawide shooter, and a 2MP macro sensor. Selfie duties are handled by the 32MP Sony IMX709 front-facing camera, which comes with an f/2.4 aperture and autofocus. The devices come embedded with a MariSilicon X NPU that helps in low-light scenarios.
Other noteworthy features include an in-display fingerprint sensor, 5G, NFC, HyperBoost, Bluetooth v5.2, and a USB Type-C port, among others. All three devices are powered by a 4,500mAh battery coupled with an 80W fast charging support. The devices run on ColorOS 12.1 on top of Android 12.
Oppo Reno 8 Series: Price, Availability
The Oppo Reno 8 price starts at CNY 2,499 (around ₹29,152). The Oppo Reno 8 Pro’s price starts at CNY 2,999 (around ₹35,000). Lastly, the top dog Oppo Reno 8 Pro+ price starts at CNY 3,999 (around ₹46,650). The Oppo Reno 8 series is expected to launch in India in June 2022.
