OSOM, a company formed by former Essential employees, has been working on its first-ever smartphone—the OSOM OV1. The smartphone was supposed to launch in Q3 2022, but now the company plans to launch it in Q4, 2022. The upcoming OSOM OV1 will be the spiritual successor to the Essential Ph-1. Months ahead of the launch, OSOM has revealed a few details about its first product.
Let us take a closer look at the OSOM OV1 design and specifications.
OSOM OV1 Design and Materials
The images posted by the company showcase the rear panel of the first-ever OSOM smartphone, which will house a triangular camera module and a fingerprint scanner. The company appears to be going with a clean minimal look, with the OSOM branding in a small-sized font sitting at the top right corner.
The back panel of the OSOM OV1 will be made of ceramic, whereas the company is using stainless steel material for the chassis. The back panel will be protected with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus layer. Additionally, the company will make use of Titanium components for the camera module.

The OSOM OV1 will come in two colour options—Polished White and Matte Black. However, in a Twitter poll, the company has also talked about four other colour variants—Solar Yellow, Borealis Green, Twilight Blue, Dusk Purple.
Osom Phone OV1 Specifications and Features
Alongside the design and material, OSOM has also confirmed some of the key specifications of the upcoming OV1. The OSOM OV1 is confirmed to sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 series chip. We can expect it to be powered by a Snapdragon 888, if not a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
The OSOM OV1 will be equipped with a dual-rear camera setup and an LED flash. The primary rear shooter on the handset is confirmed to offer a 48MP resolution. It will be accompanied by a 12MP auxiliary sensor, which should bring either telephoto or ultra-wide functionality to the OV1. For selfies, it will rely on a 16MP resolution sensor. All three sensors on the OV1 will be Sony sensors.
OSOM has not clearly revealed the battery capacity of the upcoming OV1. However, the brand claims that the battery life will be beyond a day with regular use. The phone will offer dual-SIM connectivity.
OSOM will follow in Apple’s and Samsung’s footsteps and won’t be shipping the charging brick in the retail box. However, the company will ship a one of its kind accessory —a privacy-focused USB Type-C cable with a toggle to turn on/off data transfer. Sounds interesting, right?
The OSOM OV1 will be priced well under $1,000 (approx ₹76,400).
