It is also touted to be battery efficient.
At the Summit, the company also highlighted the Snapdragon X70’s AI optimised 5G performance and sub-6GHz carrier aggregation. It can deliver up to 6 Gbps peak download speeds.
Qualcomm takes pride in announcing it as the “world’s first 5G standalone mmWave connection”. It managed to achieve maximum speeds of over 8 Gbps, which was demonstrated on a test device powered by the Snapdragon X70 modem at a test lab in San Diego. Carriers can offer broadband services using standalone mmWave without having to depend on sub 6Ghz 5G.
Durga Malladi, senior vice president and general manager, cellular modems and infrastructure, Qualcomm Technologies, commented, “Snapdragon X70 gives operators the ability to deliver extreme 5G capacity, multi-Gigabit data speeds, and new use cases across devices from smartphones to laptops, fixed wireless access equipment, industrial machines, and more”. Malladi added, “We look forward to working with industry leaders to advance 5G to power best-in-class connectivity experiences at the connected intelligent edge and transform industries across consumer, enterprise and industrial settings”.
Qualcomm is believed to be working with OEMs to integrate the Snapdragon X70. You can expect upcoming flagship smartphones and tablets to come with this superior 5G modem towards the end of 2022.
