We saw the smartphone maker Realme announce their ‘Pro‘ series of smartphones in the Realme 9 series quite recently. Since then, there have been rumours about the existence of a vanilla Realme 9 in both 4G and 5G flavours. But now we are seeing two phones in the 5G series as well. A mystery device with the Realme 9 5G Speed Edition moniker has just been spotted on the brand’s India website.

But it will be safe to say that the official launch is nearby, with the moniker being spotted in the wild recently. It should be noted that this phone could very well be a rebranded Realme Q3s that has been on sale in the Chinese market since last year. For the uninformed, the Realme Q3s packs a 6.6-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD panel with a 144Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate. The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 5G SoC and comes with up to 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage.
On the optics front, the Realme Q3s gets a triple camera setup on the rear with a main 48MP sensor, which is assisted by a 2MP macro and a 2MP depth sensor. For selfies, the phone gets a 16MP sensor up front. It is powered by a 5,000 mAh battery with support for 30W fast charging. Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 3.5mm audio jack, Android 11 with Realme UI 2.0 out of the box, and a polycarbonate body.
As for the vanilla Realme 9 5G, we think that it will get the same display, optics, battery, and design, but the processor will be swapped for the MediaTek Dimensity 810 to lower the cost. The Realme 9 4G model, on the other hand, could be powered by the MediaTek G96 that has been lately powering a lot of 4G budget smartphones.
There is still no official word about the launch of both the Realme 9 5G and the Realme 9 5G Speed Edition, but we can expect the launch to happen sometime this month.
