Xiaomi’s Redmi has launched the first handset under the Redmi K50 series—the Redmi K50 Gaming in China. The Redmi K50 Gaming Edition comes with quite a few upgrades over its predecessor, the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition. The handset makes use of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor and offers a 4,700mAh battery with whopping 120W fast charging. It retains the 120Hz AMOLED display from its predecessor but comes with improved Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. The Redmi K50 Gaming comes in three memory-storage configurations—8GB + 128GB, 12GB + 128GB, and 12GB + 256GB. The handset is already up for pre-order and will go on sale starting February 18 in China. The pricing is as follows:

Redmi K50 Gaming Specifications and Features
The Redmi K50 Gaming edition flaunts a 6.67-inch LTPO 2.0 AMOLED display with a Full HD+ (2,400 × 1,080 pixel) resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio, and 50,00,000:1 contrast ratio. It has a 120Hz refresh rate panel that supports a 480Hz touch sampling rate and is HDR10+ certified. The display panel is also protected with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.

The system on chip brings with it an Adreno 730 GPU, up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, and up to 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. It also features a Dual Vapor chamber with 4,860 square mm area that helps with heat dissipation. The handset boots Android 12 based MIUI 13.
Moving on to the cameras, the Redmi K50 Gaming offers a triple-rear camera setup and an LED flash. The primary shooter on the device is a 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor with 1/1.73-inch sensor size and an F1.65 aperture. It is accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens with a 119° field of view and an F2.2 aperture. There is also a 2MP telemacro sensor with an F2.4 aperture on the handset. For selfies and video calls, it relies on the 20MP Sony IMX596 sensor.
The Redmi K50 Gaming is equipped with a 4,700mAh battery unit and 120W HyperCharge fast charging support. It offers a USB Type-C charging port, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and an IR blaster. The handset offers a symmetrical quad-speaker setup with JBL Audio and Dolby Atmos. It lacks a 3.5mm audio jack, so the audio is routed through the Type-C port. The handset features dedicated gaming triggers, similar to its predecessor, but this time these triggers feature a total of eight pop-up magnets that improve button stability. Xiaomi is using silicone button fretting this time around which results in faster rebounds and also reduces finger fatigue.
The Redmi K50 comes in three colour options—Shadow, Silver Wing, and Ice Chop. There is also a Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team edition of Redmi K50 Gaming, but it is available only in 12GB + 256GB configuration. It measures 162.5x 76.7 x 8.5mm and weighs 210grams. In terms of connectivity, it offers Dual-SIM, 5G, 4G, Wi-Fi 6E 802.11ax, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, and NavIC.
