Samsung Galaxy S21 FE Starts Receiving its First Software Update

Samsung launched its Fan Edition handset dubbed the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE just last week in India. Within a week of launch, the brand has now started rolling out an update for the handset. The latest update for the smartphone comes with firmware version G990EXXU1BUL5/ G990EODM1BUL5 and the OTA has an update size of about 442MBs. The update also brings the January 2021 Android security patch to the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE. Let us take a closer look at what the update has in store for the S21 FE users.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G update also brings an update for several system apps such as Samsung Notes Add-ons, Galaxy Wearable, Samsung Global Goals, Samsung Kids, Samsung Notes, Samsung Internet, Samsung Health, SmartThings, Samsung Members, Samsung Pay, Samsung TV Plus, Calculator and Voice Recorder. The company claims that the update brings improved system stability and enhanced performance.

The update might be rolling out in batches, so it may or may not be available yet on your device. To check for the update, you can head over to the Settings -> Software update -> Download and install.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE Specifications and Features

The S21 FE features a 6.4-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The handset comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner and is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus layer.

The Indian variant of the handset is powered by the Exynos 2100 processor. It is equipped with a 4,500mAh battery unit and 25W fast charging support. It also supports 15W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging. The S21 FE boots Android 12-based OneUI 4.0.

The S21 FE packs a triple rear camera setup including a 12MP primary shooter with OIS. Accompanying it is a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens with 123˚ field of view. There is also an 8MP telephoto lens with 3X optical zoom on the handset. For selfies, it offers a 32MP sensor inside a centered punch-hole notch.
