Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S22 Ultra alongside the Galaxy S22 and the Galaxy S22+ at the Unpacked 2022 event.
The successor to the S21 Ultra comes with a different design language and is the first Galaxy S series handset to come with an S-pen slot. To those unaware, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra was the first S-series handset with S-pen support, but it didn’t have the slot. With the Galaxy S22 Ultra, Samsung seems to be replacing the Galaxy Note series with the Galaxy S Ultra series.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra Price and Availability
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra comes in four configurations: 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, 12GB RAM + 256GB storage, 12GB RAM + 512GB storage, and 12GB RAM + 1TB storage. The handset is already available for pre-order and will go on sale starting February 25th in select markets. The pricing is as follows,

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra Design
The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra comes with a different design language compared to other Galaxy S22 series handsets. The Galaxy S22 Ultra doesn’t resemble its predecessor, the Galaxy S21 Ultra. In fact, it looks a lot like the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.
The handset comes with a boxier design, a slightly curved display panel, and an aluminum frame. The front and the back glass panels of the device are protected with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra features a 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with a Quad HD+ resolution (1,440 x 3,080 pixels), about 500ppi pixel density, and a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. The panel can achieve as high as 1,750nits brightness under certain scenarios and supports a 30,00,000:1 contrast ratio.
The display panel houses the front selfie shooter inside a centered punch-hole notch. There is also an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner on the device.
Powering the Galaxy S22 Ultra is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor which is built on Samsung’s 4nm fabrication process. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 has the Adreno 730 GPU and the Snapdragon X65 5G modem. In some regions, Samsung will use its in-house Exynos 2200 chipset in place of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. The Exynos 2200 comes with RDNA 2 Xclipse 920 GPU and is fabbed on the 4nm EUV process.
The Galaxy S22 Ultra packs a quad-rear camera setup, an LED flash, and a laser autofocus module. The primary shooter on the device is a 108MP sensor with an F1.8 aperture, 85° field-of-view, and phase-detection autofocus. It gets accompanied by a 12MP ultrawide camera that has an F2.2 aperture and a 120° field-of-view. The handset also offers a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, a 36° field-of-view, OIS, and an F2.4 aperture. There is also an additional 10MP telephoto lens with 10x optical zoom, an 11° field-of-view, OIS, and an F4.9 aperture.
For selfies and video calls, the Galaxy S22 Ultra relies on a 40MP sensor that has an 80° field of view and an F2.2 aperture. The Galaxy S22 Ultra supports 100X hybrid zoom and will also be capable of recording 8K videos at 24 frames per second.
The Galaxy S22 Ultra comes equipped with a 5,000mAh battery unit and supports 45W fast charging. In addition to 45W wired fast charging, the handset also supports 15W wireless charging as well as 4.5W reverse wireless charging. For charging and data transfers, the handset relies on a USB 3.2 Type-C port. It also has a stereo speaker setup, but it lacks the 3.5mm audio jack.
In terms of connectivity, the Galaxy S22 Ultra offers 5G, 4G, Wi-Fi 6E, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 5.2 LE, NFC, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS, and GALILEO. The handset measures 163.3×77.9×8.9 mm, weighs 229g, and features an IP68 water and dust resistant rating.
It boots Android 12 based One UI 4.1 and will get four major Android OS updates and security updates for up to five years. The Galaxy S22 Ultra comes in four colour options: Phantom Black, White, Burgundy, and Green.
