Samsung Electronics has announced the Odyssey OLED G8 monitor (model G85SB) at IFA 2022 in Berlin. The monitor is Samsung’s first OLED gaming monitor. Let’s have a look at the Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 gaming monitor specifications and features.

The Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 gaming monitor has an ultra-thin form factor, with the thinnest part measuring 3.9mm. It has a 34-inch display with a refresh rate of 175Hz and 0.1ms response time. The monitor has a QHD resolution of 3,440 x 1,440 pixels. It has an aspect ratio of 21:9 and is said to cover 99.3 percent of the DCI colour gamut. Furthermore, the display has an 1800R curvature.

The Odyssey OLED G8 monitor is VESA DisplayHDR 400 True Black Certified, which means that it will display life-like images with better contrast. Additionally, it features AMD FreeSync Premium technology. The gaming monitor comes with CoreSync and Core Lighting+ technology, which can control the lighting at the rear of the device to match the game.

Samsung states that the Odyssey OLED G8 is designed to offer not only an improved gaming experience, but it also includes various entertainment and lifestyle features. The display can stream shows from Amazon Prime, Netflix, YouTube, and other OTT platforms via Samsung’s Smart Hub. It also comes with support for Samsung TV Plus.

Furthermore, the device’s integrated IoT hub enables users to monitor IoT devices that are linked to it via the SmartThings app. The monitor also supports the Samsung Gaming Hub, which allows users to play games offered by various platforms such as Xbox, Google Stadia, and NVIDIA GeForce NOW.

The Odyssey OLED G8 gaming monitor sports a height-adjustable stand with tilt functionality. As for connectivity, the monitor supports Micro HDMI (2.1), Mini DP (1.4), and USB-C ports. It also comes with built-in 5W stereo speakers.

Samsung has announced that the Odyssey OLED G8 will be available across the globe by the end of the year. The company adds that the launch timelines will vary according to the region. There’s no word on the price yet.
