Samsung has announced the T7 drive, which is a ruggedized version of the T7 SSD which debuted back in 2020. Despite its tough exterior, it is tiny and lightweight, weighing only 98 grams. It is the company’s most robust portable SSD to date, as it can withstand falls of up to three meters and is IP65-certified as dustproof and water-resistant.

On the connectivity front, the drive uses the USB 3.2 Gen.2 interface for data transfers. The SSD is protected by 256-bit AES, Advanced Encryption Standard, and hardware encryption. It comes with Samsung’s Magician Software, which allows users to control the drive easily.
By modifying the surface material and enhancing the software in the T7 Shield, Samsung has optimized both the interior and exterior of the product to eliminate the performance deterioration and overheating that occur when transferring large files.
According to Samsung, the T7 Shield employs one-third of the tray packing of previous versions while lowering greenhouse gas emissions during production through production efficiency.

The Samsung T7 Shield is available in beige, black, and blue colour options. The drive costs ₹12,999 for the 1TB storage variant and ₹22,999 for the top-end 2TB model. It will be available at all Samsung retail locations, consumer electronics retailers, and online platforms, including Samsung’s own online store, Samsung Shop by this month.
