1. Press And Hold The Power Button To Turn On Your iQOO Smartphone
First, locate the power button of your iQOO smartphone. To find the power button, refer to the Quick Start Guide that comes inside the box. Press and hold the power button till you receive haptic (vibrational) feedback. Once you do, you can release the button and the setup process will initiate.
2. Hello!
First up, your brand-new iQOO device will greet you and ask you to select a language. By default, English (United States) will be the selected language, but your iQOO smartphone supports a host of regional and global languages. Whichever language you are comfortable with, you can choose it and press the start button at the bottom.
Additionally, the same page will provide you with a bunch of auxiliary settings, such as font size, magnification, and select to speak, which could make your experience with the device a tad more comfortable if you have impaired vision. Moreover, you can make emergency calls from your iQOO smartphone by tapping the button at the very bottom of the display.
3. Select Your Location
Now is the time when you need to select your location. By default, India is the selected location, but if you are located elsewhere, you can choose your region easily from the menu. Once you are done, you can tap Next.
4. User Agreement
Your iQOO smartphone will now ask you to agree to the User Agreement. It is a long read, but is an important one, so we would urge you to go through the User Agreement thoroughly in order to understand your individual rights and the company’s rights while you are making use of their product.
Permission | Required? |
---|---|
User Agreement | Yes |
Once you have read the agreement, you can grant the permission (if you are comfortable doing so) by checking the box and tapping Next.
5. Privacy Terms
Similar to the User Agreement, your iQOO smartphone has another long read in store for you, which, once again, we’d recommend you go through thoroughly. The page will make you aware of the brand’s privacy terms: what data is collected and processed, what your data rights are, how you can contact the brand, and more. Once you are done reading the privacy terms, you can check the box and tap Next.
Permission | Required? |
---|---|
Privacy Terms | Yes |
6. E-warranty Card Privacy Terms
Now, your iQOO smartphone will require you to go through its E-Warranty Card Privacy Terms. This becomes crucial if and when your device needs a repair or a replacement (we hope it never boils down to that though) and we would suggest going through the terms thoroughly. Do note that you will have to agree to the E-Warranty Card Terms to continue the setup process and, hence, make use of your iQOO smartphone.
Permission | Required? |
---|---|
E-warranty Card Privacy Terms | Yes |
7. Send Usage And Diagnostics Information
This is optional permission that your iQOO smartphone will ask you to approve of. If you agree to send usage and diagnostic information, it will supposedly help iQOO improve other products and services. Again, you don’t necessarily have to agree to this term and you can deny the permission and proceed.
Permission | Required? |
---|---|
Send Usage And Diagnostics Information | No |
8. Connect To A Wi-Fi Network For Internet Access
Your iQOO smartphone will now let you connect to an available Wi-Fi network in its proximity for internet access. You can connect to the Wi-Fi network of your choice by entering the valid network credentials. Open networks, on the other hand, don’t need a password and can be connected directly.
You can even choose to set up your iQOO smartphone offline and connect to Wi-Fi later on, once the setup process is finished. After all, it is not guaranteed that you will be within the range of a Wi-Fi network during the setup process, right?
9. Copy Apps And Data For Your Old Smartphone
Your iQOO smartphone will now let you copy apps and data from your old smartphone (Android or iPhone). The device will provide you with easy instructions to copy the data from your old device. If, however, you don’t want to copy anything from the past and want to start afresh, you can skip by tapping the Don’t Copy button available on the bottom left portion of the device’s display.
10. Sign In To Your Google Account
Next up, your iQOO smartphone will ask you to sign in with your Google account. You can even create a new Google account if you don’t have one already. If, however, you don’t want to sign in right away, you can skip this step and sign in later on post the initial setup.
11. Google Services Permissions
Since your iQOO smartphone runs on Android, it has to rely upon several Google services in order to operate properly. Your device will now ask you to permit/deny access to various services, such as backing up data to Google Drive, using your location, allowing scanning for Wi-Fi networks, and more.
While optional, access to location services is recommended, as you would need it to be turned on in order to properly make use of various shopping, food, and other location-based apps.

12. Set Unlock Method
Your new iQOO smartphone comes with two biometric forms of unlocking, namely a facial unlock mechanism and a fingerprint unlock mechanism. You can use either or both forms of unlocking to ensure that it’s only you who gets to access the iQOO device. That being said, if you want the best security, we’d suggest relying upon the fingerprint unlock mechanism, as the facial unlock mechanisms can easily be tampered with. Depending on your device’s model, the fingerprint scanner will either be embedded underneath its display or underneath the power button.
It is worth noting that both forms of biometric unlocking have to be backed up by a more traditional method of unlocking (PIN/Password/Pattern). So, make sure to keep the passwords as difficult for others to crack and as easy for you to remember.
13. Continue Setup
While your iQOO smartphone is almost set up, there are some more steps that can be completed later on, post set up. However, if you want to complete the setup right away, you can continue doing so. Your iQOO phone will now ask you to grant permission to Google Assistant (voice input), add another email account, add another fingerprint, change font size, and more.
14. Recommended Services Permissions
Your iQOO device will now request you to grant/deny permissions to various recommended services, such as Smart Upgrade, permissions for system apps, Nano Music Player, and more. None of these services are crucial for your iQOO device to operate normally, so you can skip them entirely if you want to.
Permission | Required? |
---|---|
Permissions For System Apps | Yes |
Smart Upgrade | No |
Personalised Recommendations | No |
Nano Music Player | No |
15. Select A System Navigation Mode
You can choose how you want to navigate through your iQOO smartphone’s interface. There are two options for UI navigation: 3-Button Navigation (Back, Home, and Recent Apps Menu) and Gesture Navigation.
Gestures are relatively new, and if you feel you will be more comfortable with the traditional 3 button navigation method, you can stick to it. Fret not, you can always change this setting later on. Plus, if you are interested in the gesture navigation, your iQOO device will provide you with a how-to tutorial right away.
16. Congratulations
