Sonos, a premium audio equipment company, has discreetly adopted the new smart home standard Matter. The brand has been the market leader when it comes to superior audio experience and durability. Over the years, the company has launched devices that cover both Amazon’s and Google’s voice platforms, as well as Apple’s Home audio standard.
Sonos just joined the Connectivity Standards Alliance, the alliance producing the Matter smart home standard, in order to keep ahead of the competition. Matter has been hailed as a game-changer for interoperability between devices by everyone involved in its development. Amazon, Google, Apple, and Samsung are among the key participants.

Sonos, as a new member, is likewise attempting to streamline its products in light of this new standard.
Sonos spokesperson Joani Brink told The Verge, “Sonos has always been focused on giving customers choice. As an open platform with a wide range of partners, Sonos is committed to making sure our products integrate seamlessly with other smart home products”. Brink further added, “Our membership in the Connectivity Standards Alliance allows us to learn about emerging standards and also evaluate whether they provide for true interoperability at the platform or operating system level, which we consider vital to consumers and competition.”
Sonos is obviously interested in keeping up with emerging standards. This has been shown in how they have developed market strategies and expanded. The corporation recently posted a job posting for a new “UX Lead — Next Generation Home Theater Experience”, implying that the company is interested in the streaming sector.
On top of that, there have been rumours that the brand is working on a pair of high-end headphones, a new streaming device with OS, and an entry-level soundbar. Sonos is thus keeping an eye out for emerging technologies from both Matter to the Connectivity Standards Alliance, in a bid to attain market dominance.
