The Sonos Roam portable speaker had launched last year with a price tag of $179. Now, the company has unveiled the Sonos Roam SL, a version that ditches the mic and retails for a lower price of $159. Apart from that, Sonos’ latest offering is said to be similar to the original Roam speaker. It comes with support for AirPlay2, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Qi charging.
Let’s check out the specifications of the Sonos Roam SL.
Sonos Roam SL Specifications
The Sonos Roam SL is a small portable speaker that can connect to WiFi, and you can add it to the Sonos multi-room audio system. Additionally, it comes with a built-in battery along with Bluetooth support. It is IP67 rated, which means that is it waterproof and dust-resistant.
Losing the mic means that it will no longer support automatic Trueplay tuning, which uses the microphone to tune the speaker wherever you place it. Moreover, the Sonos Roam SL also lacks voice assistant and Sound Swap features.
The Sonos Roam SL comprises two class-H amplifiers, one custom racetrack mid-woofer, and one tweeter. The device’s battery is reported to last for about 10 hours and can be charged via a USB-C cable, optional magnetic wireless base, or any Qi charger. When not in use, the Roam SL will switch to sleep mode to conserve power, which the company claims will extend the battery life to up to 10 days. When it comes to dimensions, the portable speaker measures 168 x 62 x 60 mm and weighs in at 430grams.
