Sony recently released the HT-A7000 soundbar, and now it brings yet another addition to its lineup. While the HT-A7000 falls in the higher end of the spectrum, the latest Sony HT-S400 targets the budget category of soundbars. The soundbar comes bundled with a wireless subwoofer and offers seamless connectivity to your existing Bravia televisions. Most of the inbuilt speakers of TV units don’t provide the loudness or the sound quality you would expect. The company is targeting users who are on a budget, but want to experience better sound while watching TV.

It is a 2.1-channel speaker that utilises rectangular drivers and a notched design, which supposedly reduces pressure on the diaphragms. The soundbar can be set on a shelf, whereas the subwoofer can be placed on the floor for improved bass response.
The Sony HT-S400 gets a relatively big 160mm (6.3-inch), 130-watt wireless subwoofer, which takes the total sound output to 330watts. This should be a decent enough sound output for most use cases.
The soundbar offers multiple connectivity options and promises seamless integration with the most recent Sony TVs. Even if you have a TV from other brands, you can use the Bluetooth function to establish a connection. It also offers wired connectivity solutions in the form of HDMI ARC and an optical port.
