Xperia 1 III specifications
The most interesting feature of the Xperia 1 III is arguably its telephoto camera at the rear. While most smartphones have a telephoto camera with a fixed zoom, the one on the Xperia 1 III has a variable zoom with 2.9x (70mm) and 4.4x (105mm) optical zoom modes, giving the user flexibility to adjust their field of view. The sensor itself is a 12MP unit with a 1/2.9-inch sensor size, dual-pixel PDAF, and OIS.
Apart from the unique telephoto camera, there is a 12MP primary camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 3D ToF sensor at the rear. The primary camera has a 1/1.7-inch sensor size, dual-pixel PDAF, and OIS. Whereas, the ultrawide camera features a 1/2.6-inch sensor size and dual-pixel PDAF. Sony is also offering 4K video recording at 120 fps. However, it hasn’t confirmed which of the three cameras support this video recording mode. All the cameras at the rear use Zeiss lens with Zeiss T* coating. For selfies, you get an 8MP unit.
The display is another highlight of the Xperia 1 III. It is the only phone in the market to offer a screen with 4K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The display is a 6.5-inch OLED that supports a 240Hz touch sampling rate, up to one billion colors, HDR, and comes with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. The rear side of the phone is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 6. It is also worth mentioning that the Xperia 1 III is IP68/IP65 water and dust resistant.
Powering the Xperia 1 III is Qualcomm’s flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 888. You get two memory configurations; 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB. On the software side of things, the phone ships with the Android 11 operating system.
The device is backed by a 4,500mAh battery with 30W wired charging that supports USB PD protocol, fast wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging. Connectivity options include dual-SIM 5G, dual-band Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.2, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. For privacy and security, there is an in-display fingerprint scanner. It also gets stereo speakers.
Xperia 5 III specifications
The Xperia 5 III is a slightly toned-down version of the Xperia 1 III. It is aimed at offering the same flagship-grade hardware as its costlier sibling but in a compact body.
Instead of a 4K display, the Xperia 5 III features a 6.1-inch OLED with Full HD+ resolution. The rest of the display features remain the same. It also has the same primary, telephoto, and ultrawide camera. However, it misses out on the 3D ToF sensor. The memory configurations differ as well. You get 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB options. One last thing that the Xperia 5 III lacks compared to the Xperia 1 III is wireless charging capability.
Xperia 10 III specifications
The Xperia 10 III comes with a 6.0-inch OLED with a 60Hz refresh rate, support for up to one billion colors, HDR, and Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection.
When it comes to imaging, you get a 12MP primary camera with PDAF, an 8MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom, and an 8MP ultrawide camera with 120-degree FoV. Selfies are taken care of by an 8MP unit.
The Xperia 10 III is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 SoC and it runs on the Android 11 operating system. It is available in only one memory configuration, 6GB RAM + 128GB storage.
The phone packs a 4,500mAh battery with 18W wired USB PD charging. In terms of connectivity, you get dual-SIM 5G, dual-band Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth v5.1, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. It also has dual speakers and IP65/IP68 water and dust resistance.
